Event Details

ECG’s Overhead Hotline School is designed to give linemen and Apprentice Lineworker Program graduates additional training. The program is simulated energized and at no time will students handle energized conductors. The school’s focus is to train students to safely move and work on energized lines from a bucket truck. Students will learn the safe operation of material handler bucket trucks and set poles in and around energized lines. Every student will leave with a complete understanding of section 507 of the APPA Safety Manual, Minimum Approach Distances, proper cover-up techniques, and rigging techniques.

Tuesday – Thursday – 8am – 4pm

Friday –  8am – 12pm

5-DAY PROGRAM

Day 1

1 pm – 4 pm

Maintaining MAD, Hotline Tag vs. R-Switch, Proper Cover-Up, and Proper Work Position

Day 2

8 am – 4 pm

Using a Material Handler Correctly, Bucket Truck Set-up, and Changing a Transformer with Material Handler

Day 3

8 am – 4 pm

Alley Out Phases, Setting a Pole In Energized Phases, and Transfer Wire to New Poleing, Truck Set-up, and Rope Throw

Day 4

8 am – 4 pm

Transfer Phases on a Vertical and Horizontal Dead End Pole Using Proper Rigging

Day 5

8 am – 12 pm

Install Suspension Insulator and Armor Rod Make up Energized Jumpers
