Georgia EMC Right of Way School to be conducted August 14-16, 2023 at the Electric Cooperative Training Center in Forsyth, Ga. The following is the agenda of classes and a brief description of each class and the instructor name and entity they represent.

  • Advanced Rigging – The class will demonstrate the proper way to remove dangerous trees and limbs from energized power lines for the safety of the employee, equipment, and property.
  • Tree Top Rescue  – The class will demonstrate proper climbing techniques while ascending trees, each participant will conduct Tree Top Rescue and Bucket Truck Rescue.
  • Tree Identification – The class will cover identifying specific species of trees that participants may encounter while conducting line clearance.
  • Chainsaw Safety and P.P.E. – The class will demonstrate proper use and care of power equipment used in line clearance and the proper Personal Protective Equipment needed and proper care of equipment.
  • High Voltage Equipment Safety – The class will demonstrate the effects of Electric contact on the human body. The class will cover the proper Minimum Approach Distance for a Qualified and Unqualified employee while involved in line clearance. The hazards associated with line clearance and effects of objects that may come in contact with an energized conductor.  An energized Hot line trailer will be used.
  • Chemical Vegetation Management – The class will cover proper applications of chemicals that are used in Vegetation Management for line clearance.
