2018 ECG Annual Meeting

The 2018 ECG Annual Meeting was a great success with a significant number of Member Communities participating. John Giles, CEO & President of ECG kicked off the meeting with the State of the Organization. His presentation was followed by Member Participants listening to presentations on trending industry topics such as CyberSecurity, Blockchain Technology, Edge Development, and Leadership. A Small Cell Panel with representation from the State, AT&T and the City of Monroe sparked great dialogue from Member Communities regarding pole attachment concerns and solutions. To conclude the first day of the meeting, participants heard a report and success story of the U.S.V.I. WAPA on TuNet Storm Disaster Recovery with AMI. The presentation was given by Tantalus Systems and the U.S.V.I. WAPA. The last day of the meeting concluded with the ECG Board of Directors Election and Board Meeting. By elect, the Board Members remained the same with Craig Mims (Fort Valley Utility Commission) elected as the new Chairman and Jay Bartlett (City of LaGrange) as Vice Chair. Sub-committees were also able to meet and discuss the overall pros and cons of ECG’s Members as it pertains to Economic & Business Development. In the overall scheme of things, you could find participants networking and building relationships with each other and enjoying the serene environment of the Ritz Carlton, Reynolds at Lake Oconee.
